Nubi snaps onto MagSafe iPhones and Qi2 Android phones and runs on its own battery, so it never touches your phone's. Charge it over USB-C, with a charging dock planned as a stretch goal. A round colour pixel screen behind glass, inside a matte black ring, light enough to forget it is there.
How Nubi stays alive
Nubi reads exactly one thing about your phone: is the screen locked or not? No camera, no mic, no location, no usage reports. Just on, or off.
Lock to feed
Every minute your screen stays locked counts as a meal. Regular, steady locking feeds Nubi better than one long stretch.
Rest to sleep
Lock it at night and Nubi sleeps. Earlier and longer means Nubi wakes well-rested. A steady rhythm beats one heroic night.
Care adds up, quietly
Feeding and sleep combine into a care rating that decides which Nubi you get. It stays hidden on purpose, so it never turns into another number to chase.
All of it runs on the little screen itself. No personal data leaves your phone.

who Nubi becomes
Everyone starts the same: a green egg, a green blob, a green teen. Each step is triggered by how often Nubi has slept. How steadily you care through Baby and Teen decides which grown-up Nubi becomes, and every Nubi grows up differently.

The free companion app passes your phone's lock state to the module, keeps your collection of raised Nubis on your phone, and holds one button: reset. That is all it does today. Whatever we add later, it will never be usage tracking.
